Shelly Gardiner
About
I am a qualified physiotherapist, wife and mom to two beautiful girlies! I absolutely love working with people, especially young children but I have always longed to be in the creative world as this was always my passion growing up. I loved art in school, and you would always find me painting, drawing and crocheting in my spare time. I love being creative and for so long I didn’t have my creative outlet as life, as it does, unfolds in its beautiful way. Truth be told, my little family and I were packed and ready to emigrate to the UK which fell through last minute. After selling our home and both my physiotherapy practice, I was left somewhat empty. I always love to believe that when one door closes, another one opens just when you need. I took a deep breath and dove headfirst into a new skill of handcrafting watercolours and here I am today! I have truly appreciated every minute of learning, adapting, correcting and finding my path in the world of watercolours. In watercolours, I have found myself again and I am so thrilled to be able to share this with you all. I have learned that it is never too late to change your path. I hope you enjoy my paints just as much as I have enjoyed handcrafting them. I look forward to seeing all your incredible works of art that has come from using my watercolour paints.

Facts about Astral Ocean Watercolours
- These watercolours are bespoke and handcrafted by Shelly.
- Suppliers for all pigments are cruelty free based. Pearlescent range is vegan (cosmetic grade) however, the suppliers for the pastels (used for our matte range), rely on a special and complex recipe from their own suppliers, and cannot confirm that the pastels are vegan based.
- My homemade binder is created with gum arabic crystals, distilled water, vegetable glycerine and essential oils.
- Watercolours are made in small batches at a time and due to the nature of handcrafting watercolours, it is not always guaranteed that slight bubbles and cracks will not appear. Rest assured, this will not affect the quality of the paint.
